Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Ed Tech Ranking Media ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit Ed Tech Ranking (the "Site"). We built this Site to be usable without creating an account, and we keep the data we collect to what's genuinely needed to run it.
Information We Collect
Contact form submissions. When you submit our Contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message you provide, so we can respond to your inquiry, correction request, or partnership proposal. We also store a one-way cryptographic hash of the IP address used to submit the form — not the IP address itself — which we use solely to detect and prevent spam and abuse (rate limiting). This hash cannot be reversed back into your original IP address.
Captcha verification. Our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to verify submissions are from a real person and not an automated bot. When you submit the form, Turnstile processes technical signals (such as your IP address and browser characteristics) directly with Cloudflare to generate a verification token. This happens under Cloudflare's own privacy policy, which governs that processing independently of this Site.
Site preference cookie. If the Site is available in more than one language, we set a small, functional cookie (NEXT_LOCALE) to remember your language preference between visits. This cookie does not track you across other websites and is not used for advertising.
Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure automatically logs standard technical information for security and operational purposes — such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested — for a limited retention period. We do not use this data to build individual visitor profiles.
We do not currently run third-party advertising or behavioral-tracking analytics on this Site. If that changes, we'll update this policy and, where required by law, ask for your consent first.
How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Respond to messages submitted through our contact form, including corrections, partnership inquiries, and general questions.
- Detect and prevent spam, abuse, and automated misuse of our contact form.
- Maintain the security and proper technical functioning of the Site.
- Remember your language preference, where applicable.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share contact-form submissions with the platforms we review, except that if your message specifically concerns a correction about a particular platform, we may reference the substance of the correction — not your personal details — when following up with that platform to verify the claim.
Legal Basis and Third-Party Processors
Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating the Site, responding to inquiries, and preventing abuse, or on your consent where you voluntarily submit the contact form. We use a small number of third-party service providers to operate the Site — including our hosting provider and Cloudflare (for captcha verification) — each of which processes data under its own privacy practices as our processor or as an independent controller for the specific function it performs.
Data Retention
We retain contact form submissions for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your inquiry and maintain a record of correspondence, after which we periodically remove older submissions. Hashed IP data used for abuse prevention is retained only as long as needed for that purpose. Server logs are retained for a limited period and then rotated out in the ordinary course of our hosting provider's operations.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information we hold about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us through our Contact page or by email, and we'll respond within a reasonable timeframe. Because we collect very little personal information in the first place — generally only what you submit through the contact form — most requests are straightforward for us to fulfill.
Children's Privacy
This Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold, including restricting access to contact-form data to the team members who need it to respond to inquiries. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International Visitors
This Site is accessible globally, and information you submit may be processed on servers located in a different country than where you reside. By using the Site, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in such locations.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the Site's functionality, or applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
