Pros and cons are listed separately from the prose so you can scan them quickly before deciding whether to read the full write-up.

We lead with catalog depth and teaching quality in every review because they matter most and because they're the two criteria that actually determine whether a platform is worth your time at all. UX and pricing sections follow, and while we test all of them hands-on, we're explicit in the text when something is a matter of taste, like interface design, versus something more objective, like whether course exercises actually reinforce the material being taught.
How We Decide What Gets a Full Review
Not every platform we look at gets a full review page. A platform needs a genuinely substantial course catalog, an active update cadence, and a real support channel before we commit the multi-week testing period a full review requires. Platforms that don't clear that bar don't appear on the site at all, since we'd rather be selective than pad the rating table with a platform we can't fully stand behind.
Reading a Review Alongside the Rating Table
A review's score should match what you see on the rating table, since both come from the same underlying testing, updated at the same time. If you're comparing two platforms that scored within a few tenths of each other, the review text is more useful than the number itself — that's where a specific strength or weakness, like an unusually strong certificate program or a mobile app that doesn't support offline downloads, gets explained rather than averaged away into a single figure.

Each review is credited to a specific person on our team, linked from an author page describing their background and area of focus. We do this because accountability matters: if a review turns out to be wrong or outdated, you should be able to see who wrote it, not just trust an anonymous byline. It also means the person revisiting a platform for an update usually already understands its history and previous weaknesses.
What to Do If a Review Looks Outdated
Online learning platforms change pricing and catalogs faster than almost any review schedule can perfectly track. What We Look for Beyond the Numbers
A strong catalog and solid teaching quality are table stakes at this point for any platform that makes it onto this site, so a review's real value is usually in the details a score alone can't capture. That includes how aggressively a platform pushes subscription upgrades mid-course, whether cancelling a subscription is actually straightforward, and how clearly a platform discloses what a certificate does and doesn't guarantee. We call these out specifically in the review text rather than folding them into a single number, since they matter differently depending on what you're actually trying to get out of the course.
